May 1 - Elk Grove Battle of Bands
1987 was a slow year for the band. With so many of the band members in different places and not everyone having a car (or a drivers license) practice became very difficult to arrange. So there was very little growth with the band. The battle of the bands show at Elk Grove H.S. in 1987 is the only 7th heaven show Richard never played. Richard actually was in another band with Jim Bluthardt, Dave Carrozzo and Zack Carr called "Enforcer". Enforcer won the battle fo the bands, even though 7th heaven was better at that show. Sean Smith and Erik Bradley would be in 7th heaven for that one show.

The basic line-up during that era would again get together and play a handfull fo dates that year : Tony, Richard, Mike, Dave and Dean. It was during this time that the band decided that they should have Tony Keys (old Art School Teacher from Junior High) become the bands manager. Tony Kees would play a major impact on teaching the band how to perform and engage a audience. Many nights were spent with Tony where he would come up with synced moves, set lists, critique songs and teach the band to not look the the instrument, but look at the crowd when performing.

Tony Kees was a perfect fit for the band at this pinnacle point in the band's career. Every band needs a outside voice to give fair objectives and Tony Kees gave that to 7th heaven. Tony Kees also gave the band a place to practice at his work in Hoffman Estates, IL at the Popular Creek Sports Complex. The band built it's own stage set with lights and pa system and held concerts at the bands practices. Having friends by (sometimes up to 100 people) to come hear new songs and give feedback, again it was a great time for the band to learn how to grow.

The band put on two concerts at Popular Creek Sports Complex with the band AWOL. the shows were a great success with hundreds of people coming out to see both bands.
