1996 had some changes in store and some progress. Around the spring time Nick Cox wasn't happy with the direction the management team wanted to ake the band so he quit and joined Cutlass. Wanting a second guitar player Richie called Alby Odum and asked him if he might be interested in joining 7th heaven. Alby joined and playing in 7th heaven for the next few years.
Richie and Tony went thru another round of writing a huge batch of songs based around the styles of the direction that was discussed with management and the band. A managment deal was signed in the fall with 7th heaven and No Fear Management (Alec John Such (Bon Jovi), James Young (Styx) and Jay Whitehouse (Waterdog Records).
A few trips out to Alecs house came about. One of them got the band a bunch of equipment from Alec that said Bon Jovi all over it. Kinda funny when the band would arrive at a club with Bon Jovi written all over it's equipment.
Right after signing a managment agreement James Young returned to Styx (because of Styx's music being in Billy Madison) to go on tour, which left him out of the mix of daily operations with 7th heaven.
Because the band now was earning a income, it was decided to create a two-cassette promo pack (black and white)... the black casette had haevier rock songs with a indsutrial edge, while the white cassette had lighter pop songs.
(this same idea of black/white re-surfaced itself when the band released "Silver" in 2003 with a black and white cd)
1996 is also the first time 7th heaven had a website (see photo of it below)
Fun fact: The February 10 show at Hog Head Mc Dunna's was the very first time 7th heaven played medley #1 and it was so successful that the band put medley #2 together within a couple months and started playing medley's at shows.
Fun Fact #2: 7th heaven dressed as "Star Wars" for Halloween:
Tony - Darth Vader • Richie - Han Solo • Dan - Obi-Wan Kenobi • Danny - Luke Skywalker • Alby - Princess Lea
