7th Heaven - Silver

Well, this is a special record in some different ways? First of all, with SILVER you get 30 Tracks (!) and about 2 hours (!) of music - and we’re not talking about a "best of" or some kind of compilation record. They must be mad, releasing such a 2CD containing so much music, but hey? if there’s one thing I’ll never be dissapointed about, then it’s to get more than I’ve expected. The next surprise is the style variation you’ll find on SILVER. What you get is melodic rock AND power pop AND industrial rock/pop AND aor AND new rock AND 80ies pop (hey, I’ve told you that variation is written big here?). As I told you before, this guys are crazy? Need some examples? Here we go: GOST OF ME is pure traditional melodic rock reminding the good old times, including great chorus & a big refrain. ETHEREAL starts with a ZZ TOP beat (remember VIVA LAS VEGAS?) that turns into a rhythm reminding me of LONDON BEAT, but in hard rockin’ style, ending up in a strong, ear-catching refrain. BROKEN is a hard pop/rock tune with a big refrain for the masses, pumpin’ background vocals and edgy guitar riffs, while the next one, ON THE INSIDE, is an epic, dark and modern rock track – once again with big chorus and powerful refrain. Disc one ends with WAR MACHINE, an angry song with industrial pop touch and screaming/spoken lyrics. You see, this was only disc one and after the first 15 tracks one thing is for sure: 7th HEAVEN don’t limitate themselve to any style – only the sky is the limit? So let’s move on to disc numer two. The "white disc" (disc one called "black disc") starts with FACE OF TERROR, a hybrid of old-style (melodic) NOISE THERAPY with cool guitar work and (pressed) vocals that reminds me a bit of DAVE MUSTAINE. Worth to mention is also I STILL NEED YOU, a beautiful, soft melodic rock ballad, perfect for sharing some special hours with your loved one. Next is MISUNDERSTOOD, an up-tempo aor track that reminds me a bit of Mr. Bryan Adams. Need something different? So probably the next one (TRUTH) is something for you, a track that sounds in the beginning like catchy LIMP BIZKIT, but turns into melodic & strong NINE INCH NAILS style in the refrain (remember PRETTY HATE MACHINE?). Next one I’d like to tell you about is SHELTER, an up-tempo power pop tune with powerful refrain that is made for the big stages. Hell, I could write pages about this double-cd, there’s so much to find on it, it’s really hard to believe! To cut a long story short: Variation ist written big on SILVER. This record is like a journey through different styles of music. The good thing is, it’s hard to find any weak tracks on this record. Probably there are about 4 or 5 weak ones, but in relation to 30 tracks on SILVER, that’s nothing! If you call yourself open-minded, but don’t want to miss big refrains and great choruses, THIS is your band. So thumbs up for 7TH HEAVEN and their record SILVER! One thing is for sure: I don’t rate this record too high with fantastic 9.5 points! Well, I guess we have to do an interview with these guys? - Ralph
